Elephants are the most spectacular land animals on the planet. In the wild, they are far more intimidating than what we see in a zoo. In addition to being highly intelligent, they are very social with a family hierarchy similar to many human cultures. When I first noticed a photo of this giant, it made me think of how magnificent their ears and head are against a cloudy sky. The colors just popped out and I had to do this painting. It is one of my favorite images. The softness of acrylic was necessary to blend the colors together.
